Born in Cordoba, Argentina, saxophonist and composer Javier Girotto has been on top of Italian and European jazz for many years. Since 2000 he has been a member of the Orchestre National de Jazz de Paris. In Central Europe he is mainly known for his duo work with Italian accordionist Luciano Biondini. In 1994 he founded his own quartet Aires Tango whose "treated tango" a pleasant and passionate fusion of Argentinian tango and jazz improvisation - immediately became a big success in Italy. Aires Tango is regularly invited to perform at Italian jazz festivals and has played with guests such as Paolo Fresu, Gianni Coscia or Enrico Rava. High time to bring their wonderful music to the rest of Europe and beyond...
The Argentine roots are clearly audible, but it's the jazz that predominates...It's something about Girotto's tone, but also the rhythmic and melodic style of the whole band, their combination of skill and passion, as well as their ability to switch between the serious and the comic.... You'll like this a lot.
