Since the age of 9, Brenda Navarrete has never looked back on her dream of pursuing a life in music. After boldly opting to specialize in percussion, the young up-and-coming star enrolled at Manuel Saumell Elementary School of Music before moving on to Cuba’s prestigious Amadeo Roldán Music Conservatory in 2005.

After graduating as an instrumentalist, ensemble and percussion instructor, Brenda continued to hone her skills with certifications in symphonic and Cuban percussion, as well as contemporary dance. In 2009, she began her professional career with the all-female folkloric group, Obini Bata, where all of her skillsets as a percussionist, singer and dancer were put to the test.

In 2010, Brenda made her mark as one of Cuba’s up-and-coming young talents during the prestigious Fiesta del Tambor, where she was awarded first place in the Bata drum category, as well as for best interpretation by a female artist. In May 2013, Brenda signed an artist endorsement contract with Sabian, joining the Canadian company’s growing stable of talented young percussionists.
