Idy Oulo began his musical life in the traditional music of the Savannah close to the griots and shepherds of his village, Mayo-oulo, a small district of the province of North Garoua (Cameroon).
He takes his influences from Makossa, Bikutsi and the Congolese Rumba.
Idy plays a Garaya (a papaya with two strings, an instrument played by griots and shepherds), a kind of Ngoni played in the Sahelian areas.
He also plays the Sanza which originally comes from the Pygmies.
These influences and instruments make his compositions a mix of African World-Music and Reggae.
Idy has toured extensively, with his former group or as a band of his own : France, Canada, USA... and won a award in 2003.
His album "Tenebres" is available on Amazon.
