After sailing the seven seas and exploring the distant corners of the world, the Faroese singer and performer Danjal has now hand-picked a group of manically accomplished musicians from the dark corners of Scandinavia and is ready to rock, soothe, inspire and incite you. Wailing clarinets and galloping mandolins accompany the bard at the piano as he sets his provocative and touching stories, commentaries and observations to a passing parade of references from tango to klezmer, jazz to cabaret, Balkan brass to Faroese folk, all coerced into a soundtrack for an imaginary Brecht/Weill musical directed by Quentin Tarantino. His Danish Music Award nominated album, The Palace, perfectly encapsulates the wide sweep of his writing, being calm, aggressive and touching and proving that love is more brown than pink.
