Daphna Sadeh & The Voyagers
It is a deep cultural awareness of her roots that informs Daphna Sadeh's music. She was born into a multicultural society in Israel, where she was exposed to cultures from the Diaspora. She has received her Classical and Jazz music education in New York.
The members of the Voyagers are well established touring and session musicians. The group has performed in various festivals and venues in the UK as well as in Europe.
Recently, Daphna Sadeh was commissioned to compose music and record a new CD with the Voyagers for "Tzadik", the record label from New York, of the renowned Jazz musician John Zorn. The new CD - Reconciliation was released in 2009 and was launched in London , major cities in the UK and in Europe.
The CD is an inspired collection of both her original compositions and arrangements for traditional tunes. The group's sound is a heady synthesis of overlapping styles -- Eastern European Jewish music, Middle Eastern traditions, Jazz and other Ethnic elements.
