MATHIAS DUPLESSY TRIO
"WORLD SHAMANIC MUSICAL TRIP"
Composed of timeless musical frescoes and full of energy, the inspiration of Duplessy Trio draws from the rivers of the big ancestral cultures: Mongolian steppes, Scandinavians fjords, Japan and Brazil mixed in a unique and clashing show...
The music of Duplessy Trio intrigues at first... Its penetrating vibrations, served as dreamlike melodies, create a universe between music themes and tribal trance, which invites the spirits to go out of the body...
The expression is the magic word of this Trio whose climates leans among others on the excellent drummer, Nicolas Gorge, among whom the light touch and the control of the sound emphasize the mixture of stamps and Jean-Francois Ott's impeccable sound in the cello. As for Mathias Duplessy, his energy and his sharpness carry this Trio up to musical paroxysms. Besides the guitar - his instrument of preference - he plays the morin khuur (Mongolian viola "in head of horse"), the oud, the flute, the berimbao, and masters diverse vocal techniques (Persian, Indian, until the diphonique singing of the Mongols), and transforms this way his voice into a real instrument.
Sometimes coming as a guest, the master of violin erhu, Guo Gan, brings a supplementary touch in this journey through the musical traditions. The agreement between the musicians and the fusion of stamps is such as we forget the distance which separates them. A supplementary sign of the part of the music in the exchange and the communication between the peoples...
"Guitarist of high virtuosity Mathias Duplessy is one of these rare performers capable of shining in everything the kinds: jazz, oriental music, flamenco...
Composer, he takes from all these styles to write and execute a music which is appropriate, alive and personal, internal and brilliant, sensitive and contemporary..."
H. Camaret (R.F.I.)
