The Deutsche Welle World Music Award is organized annually by Deutsche Welle, Germany's International Broadcaster, in conjunction with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).
The contest is open to all Active and Associate EBU Members (radio).
The Deutsche Welle World Music Award is designed to honour the radio programme which best promotes the recognition of world music and helps make it known to a wide audience.
The award is presented by an international jury for the production with the highest standards in terms of: creativity, content and presentation.
The programmes entered must have been first broadcast in 2001.
A prize worth 4,000 Euro will be given to the makers of the winning programme. The money is intended to promote journalistic research for future world music programmes.
The award ceremony will take place at the Deutsche Welle World Music Festival in Bonn in June 2002.
Deadline for all entries is March, 1st, 2002.
