DHOAD GYPSIES FROM RAJASTHAN IS BASED IN FRANCE.
Having performed in over 600 concerts worldwide, Dhoad are the indisputable Cultural Ambassadors of Rajasthan. Members of an esteemed tribal caste, extending seven generations of musicians, the Dhoad brotherhood - featuring four brothers - is a collective of consummate musicians and singers, young and old, wise and spirited.
One of the most emotive and arousing musical styles in the world; respected by virtuosos for its unparalleled rhythmic complexity and speed, Rajasthani folk music evokes a trance like experience for both musicians and listeners. Dhoad's is this and more, a rapturous journey, singing of love, peace and honour, the lyrics inspiring such levels of passion and musical performance that the sweeping scales of the Dhoad vocalists reach fever pitch held with breathtaking stamina. It is this astonishing level of power along with the spectacular presence of a traditional Rajasthani dancer and the wild stunts of their fakir that make Dhoad such an unforgettable experience.
Fronted by Artistic Director Rahis Bharti and tabla maestro Amrat Hussain, Dhoad perform a diverse repertoire of traditional Rajasthani folk tunes and semi classical North Indian compositions on tabla, harmonium, dholak and castanets.
