MARINA SATTI
Born in Athens and raised in Heraklion, Crete. Her father is of Sudanese descent and her mother is Greek. From a very early age, she was influenced by various multicultural movements and was interested in designing and music. After finishing school she attended the School of Architecture at the National Technical University of Athens, while at the same time she began her theatrical studies at Veaki drama school and Central Stage School. In 2008, she received her certificate in classical piano and advanced music theory studies, as well as her classical singing diploma, scoring an excellent mark and winning first prize supported by her vocal coach, Panos Dimas. In 2009, she participated in the European Jazz Orchestra (EBU) representing Greece, where she toured throughout Europe performing Peter Herbolzheimer’s arrangements. In 2011, she graduated from the Berklee College of Music (she has received a scholarship for attending Berklee) having studied Contemporary Writing & Production. She has collaborated with various well-known artists, namely Bobby McFerrin, Paco de Lucia, Wayne Shorter, Danilo Perez, Nikos Mamangakis, Nikos Kypourgos and many more. She has voiced several cartoon characters in Greek dubbed animated movies, including Disney’s princess Vaiana. As an actress she collaborated with public institutions, namely the National Theatre of Greece, Greek National Opera and Athens & Epidaurus Festival and she played the leading role in theatrical plays, such as Once, Erotokritos, West Side Story, Shrek the Musical, Fiddler on the Roof etc.
In 2016, she created “Fonέs”, a Greek female polyphonic group which accompanies her in her live shows and the next year she formed “Chórεs”, a female choir composed of 50 women of all ages.
Her latest single “Mantissa” (Fortune Teller), composed, arranged and produced by her, became a smash hit counting more than 37 million views on YouTube in its first month of release and topped the charts in Greece and Bulgaria. The song’s success led her to sign an international record deal with Universal Music Berlin. In November 2017, she performed at Europe on Stage, an event created by Google and hosted by Brussel’s Bozar Center of the Fine Arts, participating as one of the top ten most interesting YouTube acts for 2017. In September 2018, Marina Satti accompanied by Fonέs performed at the United Nation’s Champions of the Earth Awards ceremony.Votre Beaute’s readership voted her for “Female musician of the year”. Today she lives in Athens and she is currently working on her upcoming debut album expected to be released in the end of 2019.

“Fonέs” is a four-member female polyphonic group created by Marina Satti. The group has performed at the Megaron Athens Concert Hall, Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC), Odeon of Herodes Atticus, having collaborated with well-known Greek artists, namely Nikos Kypourgos, Dionysis Savvopoulos, Pavlos Pavlidis, Foivos Delivorias, Dimitris Kalantzis. In the summer of 2018, the group participated in the Ancient Greek tragedy “Prometheus Bound”, a play that was directed by Martha Frintzila and was performed at the Little Theatre of Ancient Epidaurus in Argolis, Peloponnese. In September 2018, they performed at the United Nation’s Champions of the Earth Awards ceremony.
