The marimba de chonta of Chontadelia represents the Colombian Pacific coast’s traditions; the additional African sounds and electronic elements take it to the international forefront. Since 2015 the band produced unedited pieces that form part of their EP: Descontrol. They have performed this material since 2017 in notable venues in Bogotá. Chontadelia’s objective is to enhance the value of the traditional sounds of the marimba de chonta in union with other current musical styles.
