I was born in Algeria in a traditional Berber family of the Chaoui tribe and was brought up in Paris from the age of one. My first musical recollection are the Chaoui songs of the legendary Aissa Djermouni with the blowing jamaks, ghaitas and bendirs which kept me fascinated, and the classical immortal voices of Om Kalsoum and Mohamed Abdel Wahab. which were likewise played on and on at home.
From the age of eight I would go to church to hear sacred music. Thus I got acquainted to different cultures.
With a particular liking for deep rooted authentic cultures, I naturally specialised anthropology at the Sorbonne university.
Since 1984 India has been a great discovery in all points of view, particularly the music ! I worked on the South Indian Oratorio "Nauka Charitram" of Saint Tyagaraja, for the iconography of the diaporama and the French translation of the subtitles.
I enjoy anywhere the intimate atmosphere in the green rooms when the musicians are tuning and practicing. So much to observe while filming.
Being a painter in my spare time, I feel close to the act of creating.
This made me specialise in coaching artists as I have been close to many of them during the tours.
Hobby : looking all around back stage; interview artists and... picking up pebbles rolled by the ocean.
