The vast majority of music is the sound of the city. From Chicago blues to Sowetan kwaito, via soca from Port of Spain, New York hip-hop and Rio's favela funk, the urban environment has produced some of the wildest, most intense music ever created. But not all of it. For starters, take the Korean percussive style known as Pungmul. Summoning and celebrating the elements, the style was created by the rural farmers of Korea with these drumming agriculturalists using their instruments to imitate the sounds of the natural world thunder, lightning, rain and wind. With their name translating as 'wild beat', Dulsori are South Korea's most renowned drumming ensemble. Their energetic, elemental performances are raw and passionate affairs as the world's most enthralling drumming troupes. Dulsori never fail to thrill and excite.
