To follow in the footsteps of Naftule Brandwein takes chutzpah. The extravagant pioneer genius of American klezmer clarinet was one of the first to record the music in 1920's New York and his virtuosity and tremendous repertoire make him a revered figure in the history of klezmer music and a reference for every klezmer clarinettist. When young French clarinet player Yom decided to pay tribute to the man he thought he'd do it Naftule's way and thus proclaimed himself "The New King of Klezmer Clarinet" and set out to live up to it, bringing his personal approach to the classic Brandwein compositions and literally breathing new life into them. His royal entourage includes long-term colleague, the French pioneer of klezmer piano, Denis Cuniot, plus tuba, trombone and tapan completing the unconventional line-up. Hats off
