These are a group of former Coimbra University students who recreate for us the classic 'serenade'.
They bring us a unique fado experience, a specific language within fado, a different way of singing and expressing the fado lyrics that embody the tradition peculiar to Coimbra.
Two exceptional tenors, accompanied by the classical guitar and the Portuguese guitar, take us on a journey through an art-form which is quintessentially Portuguese the age-old tradition of Coimbra.
At themed events the Capas Negras pay tribute to a great cultural icon, the poet and composer Jose Afonso, famous for his folk and resistance songs, who also studied and performed in Coimbra.
