Zuzana Lapcikova is one of the most popular singers and dulcimer players on the Czech folk-music scene. She comes from south-east Moravia region, one of the last ones, where folk roots are living till today. Since her early childhood she sang and played together with old master musicians, learned to sing lot of Moravian folk songs and play dulcimer.
Later she studied dulcimer at the Brno Conservatory and ethnomusicology at the Masaryk University. She won many international competitions and took part in numerous international music festivals. She performed publicly and recorded with various dulcimer bands, the Brno Radio Folk Instrument Orchestra, chamber ensembles as well as larger orchestras. An evidence of this fruitful co-operation is a row of 27 records bearing her name.
Since the time of her studies at the Brno Conservatory, Zuzana Lapcikova cooperates with an excellent violinist Petr Ruzicka, who is concert master of l'Orchestre des Laureats du Conservatoire de Paris and Bilbao Phiharmonia orchestra. Together with him, Zuzana is member of the Ad Lib Moravia trio, an open association of musicians around world-famous jazz pianist Emil Viklicky. Zuzana Lapcikova and Emil Viklicky, together with drummer Billy Hart joined famous bass-player George Mraz for recording of his album "Morava" on June 2000 in N.Y.C. for Milestone Rec. In 2002 they were invited as guests of George Mraz's concert on the Prague Spring festival.
One of her last aktivities is a big stage performance "Ej, hora, hora" - fussion of folk themes with jazz an contemporary music, dance and theater elements, which was successfuly realized on several events in Czech Republic and multicultural festival Ille d'France 2002.
