JUNO Award winner Quique Escamilla was born and raised in the warm, tropical southern lands of the state of Chiapas, Mexico. He breaks down language barriers through his powerful voice and passionate delivery while fusing traditional Mexican styles of music such as ranchera and huapango with modern flavours of rock, reggae, ska, pop, jazz, cumbia, bolero, and more Latin American rhythms; accompanied with powerful lyrics and messages inspired by and to support various social and political issues such as human rights, immigration reform, global conservation, anti-racism and indigenous rights. Quique and his band have toured Canada extensively. In 2016 he's toured Europe three times in support of his award winning album '500 Years of Night'. (Winner of the Juno Award for World Music Album of the Year 2015. -- Winner of the Canadian Folk Music Award for World Solo Artist of the Year 2014)

"…Quique is a unique talent who holds to the traditions of heavyweights like Bob Marley and Manu Chao. Quique is really one to watch!" -Garvia Bailey, CBC Radio.

"A modern version of a Pan-American troubadour fusing Latin styles with Rock, Reggae, Folk...in an unassuming way...built upon solid musicianship..."
-Marc Fournier, SONGLINES Magazine, UK.
