Esperanzah!, held over the first week of August, is an invitation to party, dream, travel, an opportunity to bring people
together in a spirit of openness and blending. All this in an exceptional and prestigious location: the abbey of
Floreffe, near Namur, in Belgium.
Three days of celebration and encounters with artists from the four corners of the world, both artists with recognised
talents and others to be discovered.
Two stages welcome more than 20 groups.
The côté jardin stage programmes artists of various origins true to their roots or offering musical projects that combine
instruments, rhythms and melodies from different traditions.
Examples of artists we have hosted: Habib Koité, Taraf de Haïdouks, Eliades Ochoa, Omar Sosa, Lhasa, Misia, Teofilo
Chantre, Chico César & Ray Lema, Sivan Perwer, Mano Solo, Lila Downs, la Fanfare Ciocarlia, Elbicho, Desert Rebel,Silverio Pessoa, Sidestepper, Groundation, etc.
The côté cour stage, which is more urban, offers a greater mix of genres with traditional rhythms and contemporary
music.
The artists have included: Tryo, La Ruda Salska, Les Ogres de Barback, La Rue Ketanou, La Kinky Beat, Les Hurlements
d’Leo, La Phaze, N&SK, Dub Incoroporation, Balkan Beat Box, Marcel et son Orchestre, Saule, Fermin Muguruza, Shantel, etc.
Esperanzah! is also a friendly place to wander between the Place aux Possibles, the ‘Regards du monde’ cinema festival,
works of art, conferences, a kids’ village, craftsmen and world restaurants, street performers, Gratiz water, a fair
trade cocktail bar, 24-hour Radio Esperanzah!… two camping sites.
Esperanzah! is a festival which, through the mobilisation of numerous NGOs and partner associations, is committed
to a different world.
