BRIEFLY ABOUT THE MUSICIANS:


Sondre Meisfjord, born in Oslo, raised in Frei, Nordmøre.

Meisfjord is a freelance musician based in Oslo, and plays the double bass in urban tunélls klezmerband. He did the jazz course at the Trondheim Conservatory of Music. He has achieved recognition all over the world through his performances with the band Come Shine. Come Shine has released three albums:

- Come Shine (2001)
- Do Do That Voodoo (Norwegian award for best jazz record, 2002)
- In Consert (with the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation Orchestra, 2003)

Moreover, Meisfjord has contributed in projects with Trondheim Jazz Orchestra featuring Pat Metheny, John Pål Inderberg & The Zetting, and the folk trio Flukt. In addition he has worked with a number of musicians and constellations including Odd Nordstoga, Dadafon, Kringkastingsorkesteret (The Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation Orchestra), TrondheimSolistene, Dipsomaniacs, Siri Gjære, Gjermund Larsen, Stig Rennestraum, and Tord Gustavsen.


Morten Michelsen, born and raised in Tromsø.

Michelsen is a freelance musician based in Oslo. He plays the clarinet in urban tunélls klezmerband. Michelsen has studied at the Norwegian State Academy of Music and Conservatoire National de Versailles in Paris.
He has worked as a musical director at the Hålogaland Theatre, and played with several institutions including the National Theatre, Riksteatret, Det Norske Teatret, Tromsø Symphony Orchestra and Thalia Teater. Michelsen has contributed in the cabaret "D e hardt å være 2" ("It's a hard thing to be 2") starring Iren Reppen, and Tromsø Symphony Orchestra feat. Erlend Skomsvoll.
He initiated the band urban tunélls klezmerband in Trondheim in 2000.



Jovan Pavlovic, born and raised in Beograd, Serbia and Montenegro.

He plays the accordion in urban tunélls klezmerband, and is based in Trondheim. His musical background spans from classical, jazz and folk music. Pavlovic has studied at the Trondheim Conservatory of Music. Lately, he has concentrated on Balkan and Gypsy music, including collaborations with numerous folk musicians from the Balkan Peninsula, among others the Bulgarians Ivo Papasov, Petar Ralchev and Georgi Petrof. He is a member and the founder of the band Bengalo, who attracted attention with their Gypsy music when they released the album "Vir". He has also worked with Farmers Market, Frode Fjellheim, Dadafon, Kristin Asbjørnsen and others. Pavlovic is regularly hired as a musical director at the Trøndelag Teater, and teaches at the Trondheim Conservatory of Music and the Department of Music at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology.



Tor-Petter Aanes, born and raised in Hemnes, Helgeland.
Aanes plays the piano and sings in urban tunélls klezmerband, and has been a member of the band since the initiation in 2000.
He is based in his native district, Hemnes, where he is engaged as a church organist and a choir conductor. Although he is currently concentrating on classical music, he holds strong connections with rock, jazz and folk music. He studied directorship and singing in Trondheim and Tromsø, and has worked as a singer, pianist and conductor. As a baritone soloist, he has contributed in various church concerts in the Nidaros Cathedral and others. He has been conducting several choirs, and holds courses and seminars for choirs and the business sector all over Norway.
