The Releaseshow for LaBrassBanda's second album "Übersee" at Circus Krone in Munich, one of Germany's most beautiful and most famous concert locations for decades, also venue of the first german perfor-mances from Elvis and The Beatles to Bob Dylan and The Rolling Stones. Filmed by Bavaria's most acclaimed, award-winning movie director Marcus H. Rosenmüller and equipped with a special soundmix made by the band itself.

Horn-toting Bavarian funk force

The brass band tradition doesn't start and finish in the colliery towns of South Yorkshire. It's a worldwide phenomenon, its branches reaching out to the Balkans, West Africa and, of course, New Orleans. LaBrassBanda is the Bavarian contribution to the cause and, from where we're listening, a mightily impressive contribution it is too. Described by Songlines as "fuel-injected Suddeutsche funk", the sound of this hard-blowing five-piece is furious, frantic and, at when some dubby touches are employed around the edges, even a little futuristic. At times they might also lean on hip-hop and ska, but - while they draw from far and wide - these Bavarian boys don't forget where they're from, eager to recast and redefine stereotypes and expectations. "Homeland is not a nostalgic exhibit," they declare. "You can only feel it when the intuition for your own roots reaches out to the new and feels happy as a pig in shit."
