The Balkan Folk Arts Series is a series of thirteen vinyl 7-inch records and corresponding digital EPs, recorded by Martin Koenig in the 1960's and 70's. Working in villages throughout the different areas of the Balkans, Koenig filmed, recorded, and photographed a musical culture and way of village life that has since been lost to Soviet rule and Western globalization.
Originally released by New York's Balkan Arts Center, and hitherto available only in private dance classes between the years of 1969 and 1983, this series will be available in vinyl, CD, and digital, starting January 2013.
