Bambarabanda has been nominated for the 2013 Colombian Shock Prizes in the category of "Best Artist/Band" Shock Prizes, October 2013, Colombia

"Hailing from Pasto, Colombia, the riveting new Andean Octet Bambarabanda arrived in full bloom ... Bambarabanda resembled a South American version of Gogol Bordello of Fishbone, but the group's unique geo-cultural perspective gave its musical gumbo of styles a flavor all its own. Garbed in colorful outfits, the band's desire to revive and renew the sounds of its ancestors was apparent throughout." Greg Bets, Austin Chronicle.com, Marc 2012, USA

"Bambarabanda is the bridge between an ancestral, Andean musical heritage and the new, a union which the group has flawlessly woven into the culture of the modern world. Rock, funk, punk, polka all share an intimate space with the secrets of the south, in the rhythms and genres like those of the sanjuanitos, huaynos, kapishkas, or sonsurenos.."
Luisa Pineros, Magazine Music Corporation, September 2013, Colombia

"... in their songs and stage performance you can hear and see the Narino influences that gave rise to their popularity: La Ronda Lirica, a 1950s group; the Fronterizo trio, a country band; the poetry of the Alegres de Genoy; and the great pianist Edy Martinez, fellow countryman of the Bambarabanda."
Luisa Pineros, Corporacion Revista Musica, September 2013, Colombia

BAMBARABANDA is a unique group, one that synthesizes and authentic approach infused with a strong cultural identity, nourished by musical traditions of the Andean regions of Colombia and the richness of the carnival of Pasto in a fusion of universal rhythms. Bambarabanda is music, it's theatrics. It brings you into a dressing room full of Andean energy, much like the energy of the volcano that shadows over the group's hometown. It's why they are called the "sons of the Galeras Volcano."
