Manny was born into a Tuareg nomad family on a sand dune near the city of Timbuktu. With a Masters Degree in International Public Policy worked in the humanitarian aide field for many years before turning towards music. Beside beeing the first manager of the Tuareg music group Tinariwen, he is the Cofounder and Executive Director of the world reknown Festival in the Desert since 2001.
