In his relatively short career as a composer, Marcus Siqueira has had his works performed by major orchestras and classical music groups like São Paulo Symphony Orchestra (OSESP), the National Symphony Orchestra (OSN), Percorso Ensemble and the Arditti Quartet, and has received important brazilian awards such as Funarte and FENATA.

“Contraluz” (means “Backlight” in english), a title borrowed from a poem by Paul Celan, brings the ideas of contrast and lack of clear contours, elements that underlie his works. The repertoire covers a period of 10 years of chamber music compositions and is based on a cycle of seven trios composed between 2010 and 2011 for his wife, violinist Simona Cavuoto. In them the violin allies with usual concert music instruments – like the piano or the flute – and other unexpected, such as a drum kit, a melodica and electrical conduits.

"Contraluz" is a release by SESC Label, with executive production by ÁguaForte and music production by Thiago Cury.
