Festival Sete Sóis Sete Luas started in 1993 and it is now a project promoted by a cultural network of about 30 small towns from five different countries: Portugal, Italy, Spain, Cape Verde and Greece. Sete Sóis Sete Luas, this year celebrating its 12th edition, develops its projects mainly in the area of popular and ethnic music (but including also theatre and art), always involving important personalities of European culture. Great Portuguese writer José Saramago, Nobel Prize for Literature, is Honorary President of the Festival. The Festival already got for three times the "Kaleidoscope Prize" from European Commission, thanks to its international European stature and its high cultural quality and for one time (2003) the "Culture2000 Program".
