In 2006, Joao Bosco had turned 60 years old. It's been more than thirty years of career, always oriented by a strictly artistic imperative, bypassing all kinds of opportunism, fashionism, and so on. Bosco's musical ethics has always been based on a single law, sole paragraph - inventiveness. His commitment to popular music is distinguished by the consistency of a work which spans decades fundamentally focusing on songwriting itself - melody, rhythm, harmony, lyrics, singing the great tradition of Brazilian popular songs.

The historical importance of the date was celebrated in an unprecedented way - the recording of Joao Bosco's first DVD. The repertoire of Joao Bosco Ao Vivo Obrigado, gente, is composed by some of his memorable classics (the 70s sambas, the amazing partnership with Aldir Blanc, romantic hits from the 80/90s, like "Memoria da Pele", "Desenho de Giz", "Papel Mache", etc.), all of them featuring perfectly suited arrangements as a result of the many years of intimacy with the songs. Joao Bosco's admirers know that his natural introspective style is restricted to the private sphere, since he definitely is a stage artist, an artist whose work increases on stage.

On that ground, Bosco owed this DVD to those who have closely followed his career, as well as to new admirers, allowing them all to have the register of his performance excellence. Featuring guests stars Djavan, Guinga, Hamilton de Hollanda and Yamandu Costa, the DVD (a co-production of MP,B label, Universal records and Channel Brasil) was recorded on February 15 and 16 at the new Ibirapuera Theatre, in Sao Paulo. Simultaneously to the DVD, the project also hits shelves on CD format, featuring 16 tracks.

The brass ensemble (besides the base quintet composed by bass, drums, guitar, percussion and Bosco's acoustic guitar) comes up as the right choice both in the syncopated samba rhythms, as "Incompatibilidade de Genios", "Linha de Passe" and "Coisa Feita", and in ballads, such as "Jade", "Quando o Amor Acontece" and "Papel Mache". Just listen to tracks as "O Ronco da Cuica", "Odile, Odila", or pot-pourri "Quilombo / Tiro de Misericordia". Regarding the latter, the arrangement, permeated by guitar thrusts and the explosive drums of Kiko Freitas, reveals with greater expressiveness the Brazilian urban violence with its crossroads of races, religions and historical processes.

Due to the uniqueness of the arrangements, excellence of the songs, performance of the musicians and the composer, the wide range of his musical universe, and the Brazilian culture portrait, this work must be considered a landmark, for new and old friends of his singing, in Joao Bosco's musical trajectory.
