The contemporary music produced in Minas has a peculiar aspect which sets it apart from any other music made in Brazil now. Outside of the focus of the great labels and using the available creativity and technology, most of the music made in the state today is recorded, produced, distributed and published in alternative ways to the rest of the world.

The people from Minas have the ability to live with both the new and the old, the cosmopolitan and provincial. They do so by finding a connection between Minas's old capital city, world cultural heritage Ouro Preto and the new capital, planned Belo Horizonte, set apart by 100km, as they cross at least three centuries connecting distinct references. From the baroque to the modernism, from the tradition to the avant-garde, the people from Minas Gerais are down to earth and stare beyond the peak of the mountains that surround them. An ethnic cauldron where beliefs and cultures from various peoples blend, Minas is one of the great Brazilian cultural reserves, unending natural resource and constantly renewing itself.

MINAS MUSIC PROGRAM - a facilitator to hire musicians from Minas Gerais

Minas Music is a program that stimulates music through a partnership between musicians and the government. Musicians and other agents involved in the production chain get from the Music Minas Forum a Program of Air Tickets and a Program of National Circulation, as well as guaranteed presence in the main fairs of the industry in Brazil and around the world.

The Program of Circulation will enable this year the performance of 25 artists, with tickets and paid salary in 75 shows held in various Brazilian capital cities.

The Program of Tickets enables the participation of the musicians from Minas Gerais who are formally invited to festivals, courses and events in Brazil and abroad.
