Meet Freemuse at stand 7.50 -- and join the two Freemuse conference sessions on music an censorship:

MEET THE BANNED! Music censorship in Turkey
Freemuse conference featuring Turkish singer Ferhat Tunç, who has been banned and imprisoned several times by the authorities.
Besides this rare chance to hear the testimony of Ferhat Tunç, the conference session will highlight other cases of music censorship in Turkey and will discuss the prospects for freedom of musical expression.
Date and venue: Friday 29 Oct, 4pm. WOMEX, Halle 7.

9/11 - The world's all out of tune
Date and venue: Friday 29 Oct, 3pm. WOMEX, Halle 7.
The second Freemuse conference session at WOMEX: 9/11 - The world's all out of tune will present '9/11 - The world's all out of tune' Populäre Musik nach dem 11. September 2001, a brand new book dealing with the 9/11 repercussions for freedom of musical expression.
Many listeners of popular music and even musicians themselves share the experience that 9/11 has changed the meaning of a song. What does 'meaning' actually mean if history can change it so much that e.g. a song for peace can become a war song?
