Lokole is a project created by Doudou Nganga Mayizola, a Fine Arts graduate from the University of Kinshasa (D, R. of Congo). As well as he arrived in Spain, he started a pedagogycal labour with a clear aim: to bring closer the african culture to the occidental society.

Soon, he found in Murcia a group of people who got involved in his project contributing with their personal influence. In 2005, Lokole began to offer a big amount of concerts along the hole Spain. So far, they have been selected to participate in reknown international festivals such as: FESTIP (Bamako, Mali), ETNOSUR (Alcala la Real, Jaen, Spain), LA MAR DE MUSICAS (Cartagena, Murcia, Spain), FIMEC (Chiclana, Cadiz, Spain), ESPANTAPITAS (Vera, Almeria, Spain) and VINAROCK (Villarrobledo, Albacete, Spain).

Creative Process

In the creative process of Lokole, the influence of contemporaneous music is the key: the percussion gives the power with the rythms from other cultures. The electric instruments, the vocals and the body expression completes the sound of the band.

This music looks for the conexion between the band and the audience by the movement of the body. The audience becomes a very important part of the show.

Freedom in the musical expression is the clue of this band. Each member expresses his way with their instrumensts.

Afro-Rock, the music performed by Lokole is a mix of different styles: Rock, Traditional African Percussion, Experimental, Ska, Reggae, Progressive, Flamenco, Jazz Fusion, Funk, etc.

Lokole sings in Lingala -language from Kinshasa, D.R. of Congo-, French, Spanish and English.
