Paulo Bandeira was born in Salreu, Estarreja in 1967.
At the age of sixteen he held the professional path, playing in the GNR's Symphonic Band while studying at the National Conservatory. He studied at the Hot Clube Jazz School and afterwards he went to the USA (New York) to study on the DRUMMERS COLLECTIVE and in the meanwhile he attended private classes with Portinho, Nana Vasconcelos, Bill Stewart and Al Foster.
He was a funding member of the ZZAJ QUARTET.
Recorded with Laurent Filipe the albums "Projecto Fernando Pessoa", "Cancioneiro do Niassa forbidden songs" and the soundtrack for the Play: "Mulheres ao Poder" during 1999. Recorded with Isaac Turienzo the album "Con Angel".
Participated as a musician with Companhia de Teatro Limpo ACERT in Plays "Augaciar" and "D.Sebastiao Menino Rei" during 1998 and 1999.
Made part of ANDRZEJ OLEJNICZAK's 4TET in several concerts in Spain and Portugal, during 1999 and 2000.
In 2001, made the debut of his Trio in the small auditorium of the Centro Cultural de Belem, in Lisbon, editing his first album, intituled: "Noite" in 2002.
In 2006, he integrated Eddie Henderson's Iberian 4TET.
The Paulo Bandeira's 4TET, with the participation of Afonso Pais guitar, Jesus Santadreu Sax Tenor, and Nelson Cascais DoubleBass, realised his latest, "Iberiando", in February, 2008.
