célia mara

Bastardista - Would'nt she have invented it, there would be no description for the GESAMTKUNSTWERK célia mara - Anna-Bianca Krause/ Funkhaus Europa.
A strong and sensual latin voice, compact nu-brazil sound, urban grooves, a portion of dancefloor, a little ethno-jazz feeling in the air… a strong message and pure energy: Célia Mara's new album and live project bastardista out now!
Fresh, punky, eclectic and sensual: Célia Mara's new album has already stormed the World Music Charts Europe. Célia plunders musical forms from far and wide providing a refreshing antidote to the Bebel Gilberto release we are usually treated to at this time of year.(Damian Rafferty, Fly, global music culture, UK)

Célia Mara, Diaspora-Brazilian by choice, sings, composes and arranges her songs - she is a 21st. century singer - songwriter, working on an acoustic and electronic base, oriented towards a global world. Some of her songs are featured on a Kid Loco compilation, produced by London based Frankie Valentine or presented on excellent jazz-compilations… ::She builds bridges - between cultures, Brazilian rhythm, Viennese elecronics and jazzy arrangements. The sensuality of her timbre brings critics to hymns: she has been compared to Al Jarreau, has been elected best world musician of Austria... (Barbara Rett, Treffpunkt kultur, ORF). Célia Mara already created her own style with her debut-album -hot couture do samba- defined by the press as a new vision of Brazilian music. With bastardista, she defines new standards:: Tropicalismo was before yesterday, MPB is yesterdays, Brazilectro was until right now, from now on, it should be called bastardismo. Brilliant album.( Luigi Lauer/WDR Funkhaus Europa (D)
