Ates Temeltas was born in Izmir, Turkey in 1963 and grew up in Istanbul. During this time, he traveled to many parts of Turkey, especially to the region of Erzincan, his family's hometown. After completing high school, he moved to San Francisco to study in the university. He completed his bachelor of science degree in Computer Science at San Francisco State University in 1986. In 1984, he started to volunteer at local radio stations, producing initially Turkish music programs and later world music programs. In the meantime, he was assisting traveling musicians. In 1995, he started Golden Horn Productions with his first production of an album. Since then he has produced over 30 recordings, many tours and concerts.
Golden Horn's activities include concerts and tours (Golden Horn Productions), label (Golden Horn Records), management (Golden Horn Agency) and publishing (Seher Music Publishing - ASCAP). Ates has wide range of taste in music. He enjoys working with musicians and the process of creating recordings and presentations.
