Carlos Placeres is what Cubans call a "trovador": a modern troubadour who delivers romantic and social lyrics. Traditional and contemporary melodies and rhythms of the guaracha, bole and rumba are intertwined in his music, making it irresistible, intoxicating. A pianist, guitar player and sometimes percussionist, lo poetico y lo picante Carlos Placeres communicates sensitivity, sensuality and poetry.

"A los Ancestros features contemporary Cuban music that popular beats and poetry, an opportunity to thank our forefathers for the majestic and extraordinary musical heritage they have passed on to us - thanks to Spain and to the magnificent Andalusian period in which Muslims, Jews and Christians lived together for almost melds eight centuries. Thanks to black Africa and the rhythmic treasures of its Yoruba, Mandinga, Bantu and Arara peoples. Thanks to the French for introducing English country-dance in Santiago de Cuba, to the Italians for influencing us with the Neapolitan operas that passed through Havana. Thanks to the Americas for jazz and swing. This work is the fruit of many years of musical study and research, which led me to discover the deepest roots of Cuban music. This project allowed Carlos to travel through time and peruse the history of musical instruments, traditional forms of dance, and my forefathers’ customs.
