She grew up immersed in the world of traditional music and still divides her time between touring and recording with her legendary parents, Martin Carthy and Norma Waterson as well as engaging in numerous solo and band projects including the groundbreaking Imagined Village, which boldly re-examined the concept of what constitutes an English musical identity in the multicultural 21st century. Eliza Carthy describes herself simply as a modern English musician, which, as she proves, covers a lot of ground.
