The singer was born on the island of Sal, Cape Verde into a family of musicians, the Lobo family, whose most famous member is the singer Ildo Lobo, her uncle. At the age of 18, she was invited to join the band Mobafuco (morna, batuque, funana, and coladera). In 1999 she received a grant to study music/singing with the conductor Cortes Medina at the Sao Carlos Opera House, and since then she has been living in Lisbon.

Together with Janita Salome, Filipa Pais, Manuel d'Oliveira and Yami, Ritinha Lobo is currently participating in the project "Muxima", which celebrates the legacy of the renowned Duo Ouro Negro.

Her concert explores several musical genres associated with Portuguese-speaking African countries, and also some acclaimed Brazilian popular music.

The batuque, the funana and the coladeras from Cape Verde are the starting points, but we also visit the Angolan semba and chorinho, the zouk from the Antilles, Brazilian popular music, and some genres from other Portuguese-speaking countries such as Guinea-Bissau and Mozambique on this journey through the history of music sung in Portuguese and its related dialects, in a performance filled with rhythm, joy, and fun: a celebration of life.
