After his adventures with Jambangle, composer and pianist Karel Van Marcke decided to start a new band "Chroma".

Van Marcke's compositional style clearly continues but his love for Egberto Gismonte and Hermeto Pascoal are reflected in the new pieces. Rhythm and long melody lines are still the main ingredients of his music.

After a search for the ideal female lead singer, Van Marcke decided to work with different guests for his first Chroma album "Radea". Singers David Linx and Geike Arnaert (Hooverphonic) contributed to the recording. Completing the line - up Chroma asked other friends to join: guitarist Peter Hertmans (Greetings for Mercury), accordionist Tuur Florizoone (Tricycle), singer Ingrid Weetjens and percussionist Peter Schneider.

Rock musician and sound wizard David Poltrock was asked to produce the CD, and achieved with his 'sound and energy' vision, a totally new jazz sound. The project recording sessions were pure magic for all the people ! Van Marcke's music is not obvious - that's a fact - but producer David Poltrock has inspired the musicians to open up musically whilst respecting the original composition in their playing. Van Marcke was compelled to play Hammond organ, Fender Rhodes and Wurlitzer keys and as a result the band sound could be changed within a second... Bass player Cedric Waterschoot changed his miking technique and was so thrilled about the result ... and so on...

After different presentation concerts ( May - June 2007 ) in quintet, Chroma will present the full CD project "Radea" on the famous Blue Note Records Festival 2007 in Ghent.
