Gipsy.cz
In 2003 Gipsy.cz appeared on the Czech music scene like a flash of lightning, Coming from the dark clouds of the Hip-Hop scene, he started accompanying the best Czech gypsy musicians and created a new explosive mixture. To Hip-Hop he added violin, accordion, acoustic guitar, double bass and cimbalon sounds, throwing in Roma rythms and language and letting himself be inspired by Balkan Roma brass bands playing songs at 200 bpm. Radoslav Banga aka Gipsy was born in Prague and lived on the street since he was 13, around which age he got in touch with Hip-Hop and Rap. Apart from traditional American Hip-Hop there are apparent influences of Prague´s genius loci in his music, a mixture of Slavic, Jewish and German culture mainly represented by Jaroslav Hasek or Franz Kafka. Gipsy cooperated and performed with various well-known artists. He played as a guest with Boban Markovic Orkestar, shared the stage with GZA, played main CZ festivals as well as Karneval der Kulturen in Berlin and did several concerts in Berlin´s Kaffee Burger, always with great success. In addition, he is a regular guest on Radio Multikulti/Funkhaus Europa. Mondomix magazine referred to him as a new talent about to be discovered for the wider public. In 2005 Gipsy was nominated for these Czech prices: Best Live Act, Newcomer of the Year. His first CD with world-wide distribution will be released in autumn 2006 on Indies Records, no. 1 label on Czech alternative and world-music scene.
