Napalma is a fresh musical mutation born out of interaction between Brazil and Africa. With a line up of two fiery percussionists from Brazil, a powerfull vocalist from Mozambique, and a gifted multi-instrumentalist/producer from South Africa, they are discovering new ways to incite dance floor fever.
Djembe patterns from Senegal and Mali are laid over powerful electronic dance grooves. Rhythms from the rich Brazilian musical heritage and inspiring vocals in portuguese , english and shangaan (from Mozambique) drive the show. Haunting flute and punchy sax add flavour to the pot.
With their new band member, Ben Amato (sax, flute, keyboards and laptop), they are currently working diverse styles such as samba, kwaito, drum&bass and dub into the Napalma sound. Using the latest music technology, they are able to deliver cutting edge production fused with spontaneity on stage. Percussionists Cid Travaglia and Rafeal Jabah and vocalist Ivo Maia have been on the road with Napalma for three years, travelling in Brazil, Europe and Africa.
