Head of the Traditional & World Music Information Center (CIMT) at Irma (Paris, France) and a long time Mondomix contributor, François Bensignor is the editor of the Planètes Musiques (2007, 2005 & 2003) and Sans Visa (1995 & 1991) directories. He's been working as a freelance specialised journalist since the early 1980's, thus very much involved in the World Music French & European networks, being a founder of Zone Franche. He has been directing the Totem guide to World Music (Larousse, 2002) and contributing to the Rough Guides to World Music (2006 & 1999). He's the author of a 56' documentary about Papa Wemba in Kinshasa (Nova/Paris Première, 2000).
