Raised in the Congo, Montreal singer and Dj, Pierre Kwenders, explores a progressive afrobeat avenue, fusing the sanguine sound with Congolese rumba and Electro. Finding his musical aspirations sparked whilst singing in a church choir, Kwenders’ artistic pursuits were not explored until 2011. Commonly described as Afro-Electro, Pierre Kwenders delivers a sound that holds a unique Afrofuturistic theme.
A major revelation in the Canadian “Indie” circuit, Pierre’s talents have been noted and praised. Nominated for a Juno in the World Music category in 2014, he has also recently been accredited with the honour of being named a Nominee for the Polaris. Scoring a multitude of performances in 2014 and 2015, his enthusiasm has resonated and extended past Canadian borders, reaching much acclaim and esteem in Europe, where he was featured at the Rennes Tranmusicales. His next international performance will be in Budapest, Hungary, at Womex 15.
