The viennese term "Strottern" means something to the effect of "tramps", "small crooks" or- most significantly- "people browsing around for usable things and opportunities". Thats - in terms of viennese music- exactly what Klemens Lendl and David Mueller, much publicised newcomers and winners of the AUSTRIAN WORLD MUSIC AAWARD 2006, are doing. They're browsing through almost four centuries of countless songs and dances, always managing to pick out the most amazing and touching material and tastefully complementing it with their own tunes.
Thus their gigs, which often feature the great viennese poet Peter Ahorner, are always a charming and remarkable experience for their audience.
Employing intelligent and humorous linkmanship throughout their concerts, they manage to bypass language barriers and to uncover cultural similarities - be it in india, germany, or elsewhere.
See them once and you'll want to see them again.
