Bomba Estereo:
Bursting out of Bogota's thriving underground electronic scene come Bomba Estereo. Starting in 2005 as a project from bass and samplers wizard Simon Mejia, the concept consolidated with the recruitment of fiercely forward singer Liliana Saumet. There's been no holding them since and they've been touring globally, exporting their own vision of electronic cumbia and champeta with
no borders, importing some hip-hop, rock and reggae on the way to create a turbo-charged universal dance party with a heavy Colombian accent. "We are exploring the tradition, but in our independent way," says Simon Mejia, "We're not thinking too much about the radio or making big hits. We want to break through the frontiers." And Liliana Saumet underlines the message in her song, "Huepaje": "Vamo' a baila, la nueva cumbia Colombiana"
