Beyond doubt, LA KINKY BEAT are one of the most innovative bands from Spain. With their unique style, their energetic live performance and most of all the unmistakable voice of Matahary they are far beyond that thing called "Mestizo".
Following the widespread impact of their first demo, for which they won the international demo competition in 2003, sponsored by radiochango.com and Radio France International, LA KINKY BEAT released its first CD in 2004 at Kasba Music, titled "Made in Barna". The CD included 15 tracks which range between rock steady, reggae, punk and the more savage side of "mestiza" music.
In 2005, the "RMX" album followed, containing remixes of Made in Barna songs by the band itself as well as new interpretations mixed by different artists from Barcelona. The CD gained enormous critics all over, and with this musical expedition into the world of Jungle, Techno and Drum'n'Bass, LA KINKY BEAT once more proved their amazing versatility.
Their 2006' album "One more time" as well was clearly affected by the love for electronic music. A sample here, a loop there, and thanks to the new Kinky, notorious DJ Rude (Banda Basotti, Roy Paci/Aretuska), the songs were full of phat beats and grooves.
After touring extensively and performing at the most important festivals all over the world (e.g. Glastonbury), the band returned to the studio to record the new album,KARATE BEAT, which has been released in 2008. Make sure to be there when the Catalonians are playing in your town, because the heart and the soul of the Kinky sound, this sudorific, energetic beat coming from Punk, Ska, Jungle and a generous dash of the Barcelona lifestyle, simply is best savoured live
