A trendy, homogeneous fusion of different genres and styles: Nomades & Skaetera or shortly just N&SK fit well into the present day movement of independent music with its thirst for recombination and artistic experience, which seems to be transforming the current french music scene. Roving rock, electric folklore, their music is an original mixture of world ambiances and rock decibels, of reggae and ska, of diverging climates and cultures.
In 2000 the band first occured under the name Nomades & Skaetera and released its album Kosmopolit, with the most representative tracks Black Blanc Beur and Le Père Noël. In 2002, seduced by the music and the group, the label Naïve signs N&SK, and after copiously touring with artists like La Ruda Salska and Wampas, the band went back to studio in 2003 to record Le Cirque Du Millenium. Produced under the direction of Lati Kronlund (Khaled, Marcel et son Orchestre, Isaac Hayes, Brooklyn Funk Essentials…), Stéphane Piot and Dominique Blanc-Francard, they created an interesting and wealthy musical cocktail, telling everybody their opinions concerning the evolution of the modern society. The year 2009 finally witnessed the long awaited release of their current album Libre service.
N&SK are one of these groups whose identity vividly unfolds on stage. Eight assorted musicians with their different musical backgrounds, French, Kabyle or Norwegian lyrics which extol integration and tolerance, meet to mix, create and compose, multicultural music being their most striking tool. It is a big brewing world they deliver, that combines accordion, violin, brass and derbouka, all based on a typically electric rhythm. With their Infectiously vibrant live performance they literally set fire to a room as spectators spontaneously get involved in frantic dances.
N&SK invite everybody to a dancing trip from Ural to the Maghreb via Jamaica., After 10 years of tour and more than 800 concerts N&SK is considered as one of the best ska-world music bands of the new French music scene and already being compared to the greatest like Les Négresses Vertes and Mano Negra. Indeed, the creativity and energy exhibited by these musicians has the potential to reconcile us with the entire world. Well, at least almost...
