The world-famous Evita actress and top-class jazz sextet from Argentina!
Broadway star Elena Roger first met the Escalandrum Sextet in the legendary BIRDLAND jazz club in New York in 2012. Roger was electrified from the start by their act, and offered them a chance to work with her. It was the love of experimenting with sound and vocals that brought Escalandrum and the exceptional singer together. And that was the birth of “3001 Proyecto Piazzolla – Elena Roger & Escalandrum”.
They took their time compiling a carefully chosen repertoire, arranging it and allowing it to develop. The lyrics were reminiscent of Horazio Ferrer and the compositions of Astor Piazzolla, founder of Tango Nuevo. In 2016 they recorded their debut album, “3001” which they released in the autumn of 2017. In 2016 they presented their album live on many great stages of the world. The ensemble was widely celebrated. The experts and audiences fell over themselves with praise!
In 3001 Proyecto Piazzolla you can feel the musical heritage of the great Astor Piazzolla, the grandfather of Pipi Piazzolla, percussionist and arranger, who is the founder of the ensemble. Paired with the great voice of world star Elena Roger, this is a unique fusion unequalled anywhere else in the world.
