La Ritma

The music of the percussion band La Ritma is inspired by traditional elements of the rhythmical music cultures from West-Africa, Brasil, Cuba and India and are fused with the sounds of their own European background. Their programme shows an incredible variety. Powerful-groovy arrangements as well as tuneful songs inspire the listener to dance and to dream. The combination of rhythmic instruments (congas, djembé, timbales, bass drums, bongos, talking drum) and melody (vocals, berimbao, steel-drum, kalimba, ocean-drum) make a concert from La Ritma to an exciting experience. Their heart beats in the pulse both of melodic-mediative rhythms an dancable grooves. The group was nominated for the German Folkmusic award Ruth (Globale Roots) in 2002.
