On 20th September, Kutumba began four concert series for Every One campaign, in Baglung Bazaar in West Nepal. Kutumba’s signature style music, a blend of folk tunes with modern touches drew in a crowd of 3,000 people in Loktantrik chowk.

The MC also a staff of Save the Children’s local partner Gaja Youth Club quizzed the audience with questions newborn health and hygiene while Sudarshan Shrestha, Director Media and Communications explained the objective of EVERY ONE campaign and why it is important for everyone – for our nation because no child is born to die and no mother should die giving birth. The audience providing right answers received EVERY ONE campaign tee shirts along with Save the Children pens and key rings. The crowd danced to the tunes of Kutumba – the effect was mesmerizing because Kutumba did an excellent job in engaging the audience.

The second concert was in the neighbouring city Pokhar where Kutumba pulled in more than 4,000 people. The crowds danced to many tunes Kutumba played and the MC engaged the audience reminding them about the true cause behind the concert.

The band then headed to Far-West in Dhangadi, on 24th September. Kailali and its neighbouring districts received information about the concert via local FM stations, posters in and around concert venues and print adverts – all promotion supported by the corporate partner for the concert Wai Wai.

In Dhangadi, Save the Children’s local partner BASE coordinated with the Tharu community to perform cultural dances as the opening act for Kutumba. The audience of around 2000 people were happy to watch Kutumba perform live most of them hearing the band for the first time in their lives.

The concert series, an annual event that brought Kutumba and Save the Children together for the third year in a row, wrapped up with a fund raising event in historic Patan Durbar premises in Kathmandu on 4October. The concert brought in around 10,000 people closer to our campaign more than 40,000 people indirectly through mass media. The local coordinating partner Nepalese Youth Entrepreneur Forum in Pokhara has donated NPR 10,000 to the EVERY ONE cause.
