BOOKING
Territory: Germany / Austria / Switzerland
Period: 2013: February / March / April --- all year on request
New Album: Expected in January 2013
Imagine two grand pianos and one drum-kit on the same stage improvising and perverting unscrupulously the Classic, Jazz, World, Electronic genres in front of disconcerted but always appreciative audience.
Aufgang is a mutant trio composed of Francesco Tristano, Rami Khalife and Aymeric Westrich (Cassius's drummer). Those "Julliard Three" met at the prestigious NYC music school and have been touring in Europe and in the States for the past three years. Aufgang's official date of birth is June 2005 when they played at Barcelona's famous Sonar Festival. The circumstances leading to their playing this concert are worth mentioning: Francesco was playing a recital at an event in an art gallery in Barcelona when Jeff Mills turned-up with the booker for the Sonar Festival. At the end of the show, Rami joined Francesco for an unbridled interpretation of Jeff Mill's "The Bells". Jeff Mills loved it and the Sonar Festival booker got to work... On the day of the show and after rehearsing non-stop for five days the trio delivered an explosive performance and won over the crowd of connoisseurs.
The adventure continued from then on. From Paris' "Cafe de la Danse" to Berlin's "Berghain", the trio is known for an astounding live performance and stand, today, as one of the only bands in the world to be equally at home in major electronic music gatherings such as Sonar and c/o pop and festivals for piano enthusiasts such as La Roque d'Antheron.
Current Album: 'Aufgang' (InFine / Discograph / Alive 2010)
"Their first album 'Aufgang' knocked out Techno with arpeggios, push aside Contemporary Classic music with electronic explosions, redefines the meaning of "Baroque" with updated subversivity: You've never heard anything quiet like before." The Wire
