Lo'Jo, a world band? Or, rather a tribe, a universe, an adventure cargo boat Lo'Jo this famous world music band straight out of the multicultural France - is a rainbow-coloured holdall, the display of a souk presenting Berber melodies.

Lo'Jo have always explored the B roads of music and culture and sacrificed much to keep compromise at bay. Born into 'old' France', Denis Pean's most important journey was from the farm house of his parents ("good people but there was no music, no singing and no culture") a few miles up the road to the city of Angers where it all began. There the tribe first came together. Violinist Richard Bourreau brought a musical expertise and a desire to explore the unfamiliar which married well with Denis' barefoot and starry-eyed philosophy. Meetings with remarkable men and remarkable women, over two hundred of them in twenty years; painters, actors, acrobats, film makers, poets, pyrotechnicians, street performers, circus artists, cooks, DJs, producers, these were the ephemeral members of the Lo'Jo 'triban', who lived, worked, played and dreamed together without dogma or coercion.

Starting in 1982, Lo'Jo played numerous live concerts and world music festivals, like the WOMAD festivals, Roskilde, Chalons-dans-la-Rue, gathered experiences and made friends. After almost two decades of mind-boggling musical adventures and gritty survival against numerous odds Lo'Jo have honed their sound down to something incomparable either in France or the rest of the world. The English paper "The Independent" has called them "one of the best live bands in the world".
