Hearing a track by legendary Jamaican dub master U-Roy, 13 years old boy of turkish and swedish descent, Ilhan Ersahin, realized that music would be his calling. Today the saxophonist, composer and owner of famous New York record label and jazz club Nublu, Ersahin, is well known for his Wax Poetic collective born out of amazing jams of urban electronica and acid-jazz with performers including Norah Jones and Saul Williams.
In company with Brazilian Girls bassist Jesse Murphy and drummer Kenny Wollesen of Tom Waits renown, he forms Love Trio. Their recent CD Love Trio In Dub featuring U-Roy combines slick modern Dub with grooved-up jazz , even some house elements and a post-world-music vibe influenced by Ersahins multicultural roots. The dub-scat voice of U-Roy and Love Trios steady grooves make it smooth enough for relaxed summertime listening but also danceable for the clubs.
