Ozomatli's music - a collision of hip hop and salsa, dancehall and cumbia, samba and funk, merengue and comparsa, East LA R&B and New Orleans second line, Jamaican ragga and Indian raga - has long followed a key mantra: it will take you around the world by taking you around the city of Los Angeles. In their fourteen years together as a band, celebrated Los Angeles culture-mashers Ozomatli have gone from being hometown heroes to serving as US cultural ambassadors. In March 2010 Ozomatli released their new album, Fire Away. The Grammy Award-winning band's fifth studio full length is arguably their most diverse album yet, ranging from emotionally resplendent ballads, 60's Stax influenced vibes, to the Spanglish of "Nadas Por Free". Tony Berg, the producer of 'Fire Away,' states that listening to the record is "like visiting seven continents simultaneously."
"Like most things that Ozomatli create, 'It's Only Paper,' infuses a socially-conscious message with a dance-heavy sonic mosaic of hip-hop, funk and Latin grooves." (Spinner)
